All amines are toxic, with aromatic amines being more toxic than aliphatic amines.
Many amines are volatile liquids with sharp unpleasant odours and are also flammable. Exposure to vapours can cause nausea and vomiting. Amines are skin irritants and some may be absorbed through intact skin causing systemic poisoning. Avoid skin contact and carry out all work in a fume cupboard using eye protection. All amines are bases.
