Dust is toxic if inhaled. Fine powder ignites on heating and forms explosive mixtures with sulfur, bromine and iodine, or if dispersed finely in air.
A small quantity of zinc dust added to bromine water causes decolorization.

Disposal: Solid waste of this chemical may be disposed of in the garbage (to landfill).
