75-05-8 		Toxic by ingestion, may be absorbed through the skin and may cause sensitisation. Use eye and skin protection where splashes can occur. Benzonitrile is a much safer alternative for investigating the reactions of nitriles. If acetonitrile is required for its solvent properties, investigate the use of alternatives such as acetone or ethanol. Use ethanol to dilute acetonitrile.
