The solution has a limited shelf life, and may be yellow owing to polysulfides formed by excess sulfur dissolved in the mixture. Avoid reactions with acidic compounds, as this will produce the extremely toxic hydrogen sulfide gas. Use skin and eye protection when splashes are possible. 29
