The nitrate in this compound makes it a strong oxidising agent, so there is an explosion hazard if it is heated with organic compounds, metals, or other reducing agents.
The chromium(III) ion is not particularly toxic, but its salts can be irritants to eyes, skin, and the mucous membranes.
Use eye and skin protection when splashes are possible.
Dilute solutions, less than 0.1M would not be hazardous according to to Worksafe criteria.
