Toxic if ingested.
Decomposes on standing to form gases which build up pressure in sealed bottles, possibly causing bottles to explode. Powerful oxidising agent. Forms explosive mixtures with organic compounds and combustible materials.
Use eye and skin protection when splashes can occur. Use only in a well-ventilated area. When used for etching note that:
- the solid or dust is corrosive to the gastrointestinal tract;
- allergic reactions and skin burns are possible, wear approved chemical protective gloves;
- eye damage is possible, wear safety glasses with side shields (or goggles). Soft contact lenses absorb irritants concentrating chemicals;
- inhaling this chemical may cause breathing difficulties, only use in a well-ventilated area.
