Hazardous Chemical
II 1165
123-91-1
Highly toxic by all routes of exposure; possibly carcinogenic. Use in a fume cupboard if practicable, otherwise use small quantities in a well-ventilated area. Use eye and skin protection when splashes are possible.

Small quantities of highly explosive peroxide form on standing when exposed to light and air; the peroxides are less volatile than the dioxane and concentrate on evaporation of the solvent, leaving a potentially explosive residue. Substitute tetrahydrofuran, which is a much safer alternative. Use water, alcohol or acetone as solvents for dilute solutions.
