Highly toxic if ingested, and corrosive to the skin.
Metal hydrides react exothermically with water to produce caustic alkalis and flammable explosive hydrogen gas. Dust clouds of hydrides explode readily in contact with flame, heat or oxidising agents. Hydrides of P, B, S, As, Se, Te are especially toxic. All hydrides are 'Not recommended' for DET Schools. Where purchase is approved, only the minimum quantity required should be obtained.

Disposal: Hydride solutions (not containing heavy metals) may be disposed of down the sink (to sewer). Ensure the solution pH is 8-10.
