Toxic by all routes of exposure.
Evolves lung-irritant hydrogen chloride gas on contact with small amounts of water; skin irritant at high concentrations.
Use in a fume cupboard if practicable; otherwise use small quantities in a well-ventilated area.
Use eye and skin protection when splashes are possible. 20% Solutions are sometimes used as an etchant for printed circuit boards. When used for etching the solution is corrosive and readily stains clothing and the skin. Wear eye protection, approved gloves and protection for clothing. Since dust or fumes may cause breathing difficulties only use in a well-ventilated space.

Disposal: Waste solutions of this chemical may be disposed of down the sink (to sewer).
