1330-20-7 		Toxic by all routes of exposure; highly flammable.
Use in a fume cupboard if practicable, otherwise use small quantities in a well-ventilated area.
Use eye and skin protection when splashes are possible. Xylene used as a solvent in some marker pens. Recommend that alcohol based marker pens be used as alternative. Used as a solvent for Canada balsam, and as an oil for oil-immersion microscopy.

Note: A solution/mixture of <12.5% xylenes is not hazardous according to the Worksafe list of designated hazardous substances.
