Use eye and skin protection when splashes can occur.
Use in a fume cupboard if practicable; otherwise use small quantities (<5 mL or g) in a well-ventilated area. Used in epoxy resins as accelerator. Release of this compound into the atmosphere was responsible for the disaster at Bhopal in India. Decomposes vigorously in water, may be dissolved in acetone.

Note: A solution/mixture of <3% methyl isocyanate is not hazardous according to the Worksafe list of designated hazardous substances.
