Highly flammable; toxic by all routes of exposure; avoid inhalation of vapour; skin irritant on prolonged contact.
Use in a fume cupboard if practicable, otherwise use small quantities in a well-ventilated area.
Use eye and skin protection when splashes are possible. Contains a small proportion of benzene and other carcinogenic compounds; leaded petrol contains highly toxic tetra ethyl lead as well. Do not use as a general solvent. Choose refined petroleum fractions containing less toxic compounds, e.g. petroleum spirit.Note: The use of petrol in agriculture to power machinery is approved for Year 9-12 students under teacher supervision.
