87-66-1 		Highly toxic if ingested; corrosive to skin. Use eye and skin protection when splashes can occur. Reacts with oxygen in the air to form a brown polymer; used in alkaline aqueous solution to eliminate oxygen from a gas. A solution made alkaline with sodium hydrogen carbonate is safer than one made alkaline with sodium hydroxide.
