Use in a fume cupboard if practicable, otherwise use small quantities in a well-ventilated area. Use eye and skin protection when splashes are possible.Ozone-depleting chemical; being phased out of use.
Used as plastic pipe joiner and as solvents for fats, oils, waxes, gums and resins. Substitute non-chlorinated solvents such as acetone, ethanol or light petroleum fraction.

Note: A solution/mixture of <1% ethylene dichloride is not hazardous according to the Worksafe list of designated substances.
