Toxic if ingested.
Easily ignited by contact with flame, burning almost instantaneously; magnesium powder dispersed in air is explosive; may explode in contact with oxidising agents such as metal nitrates or chlorates. Burns with a white-hot flame; UV radiation emitted from flame may cause eye damage; slowly evolves explosive hydrogen gas on contact with water; non-toxic. Magnesium powder should not be combined with carbon tetrachloride, carbon dioxide, chlorinated hydrocarbons or halogens, due to the fire risk.

Disposal: Solid waste of this chemical may be disposed of in the garbage (to landfill).
